The 2026 World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List names sermorelin among growth hormone-releasing factors prohibited at all times. For athletes governed by those rules, the issue extends beyond competition day.
A prescription does not automatically make a prohibited substance permitted in sport. Athletes should check the rules of their governing organization and any therapeutic use exemption requirements before treatment. A clinic’s wellness recommendation cannot decide eligibility.
For WADA-governed sport, sermorelin is prohibited at all times in 2026. Verify the applicable rules before starting.
What the list actually covers
The WADA list groups sermorelin with other growth hormone-releasing factors under its hormone-related prohibited category. It also identifies other substances that appear in peptide comparisons, including tesamorelin and CJC-1295. The prohibition is not limited to a particular bodybuilding dose.
Rules can change by year and organization. Use the current official list and the authority responsible for your competition. Do not rely on a retailer's claim that a substance is legal, naturally acting, or available by prescription to answer an anti-doping question.
A medical prescription and an exemption are different
A clinician can evaluate a medical need, but an anti-doping organization determines how its rules and exemption process apply. If an exemption is relevant, work through that process with the treating clinician and governing body before assuming use is allowed.
Keep the exact medication name, formulation, and other ingredients available. A blend may introduce additional prohibited substances. Our blends and stacks guide explains why the full label matters beyond the first ingredient.
Half-life is not a clearance guarantee
A drug's half-life describes one aspect of its concentration over time under particular conditions. It does not establish how long every test can detect a substance or related biological effects. Detection depends on the test, specimen, target, preparation, and other factors.
This site does not provide a schedule for avoiding detection. An online claim that a peptide clears quickly should not guide treatment or eligibility decisions. The half-life article explains the measurement distinction without inventing a universal window.
Employment and other testing programs may differ
A workplace panel and a sports anti-doping program are not necessarily testing for the same substances. Without knowing the actual program, no review site can promise a negative result or determine disclosure requirements.
Ask the testing program's medical review contact how prescribed medicines should be handled and discuss privacy questions through that process. Do not assume one person's reported test result applies to another panel. For treatment decisions, keep the medical evaluation separate from unsupported assurances about testing.
